Major Moscow's Attacks Cut Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were left without electricity and dealt with disruption to water supplies, according to city officials.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to area administrators.

Moscow has intensified strikes on energy facilities over recent weeks, while the country's government has called for "concrete actions" from partner nations to exert influence on Moscow.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in delivering defensive weapons and enforcing restrictions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 projectiles targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were striving to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been hospitalized, as confirmed by city authorities.

Local officials said the metropolitan region endured intense attacks during nighttime hours. A young boy lost their life and several individuals were injured.

The attacks follow periods of air raids in the territory, sections of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

The entire country is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to spot.

Authorities told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the country's energy grid, with attacks already impacting gas facilities.

He said energy workers and officials were preparing for further attacks.
